LOOSE POWDER VS PRESSED POWDER: WHICH ONE IS MORE SUITABLE FOR YOU?
Powder in beauty routine is an important step that definitely cannot be skipped. Choosing the right type of powder for your skin is crucial for achieving a flawless, long-lasting makeup look. Different skin types have different needs when it comes to powder, so it's important to choose a product that works well with your skin. Here we’re dropping all you need to know about the common types of face powder, loose powder and pressed powder.
LOOSE POWDER
As the original type of face powder, it has loose fine formula that is easily absorbed to the skin. Loose powder is best-known for its oil-control because it contains Silica that absorbs sweat and excess oil on your skin. That’s why loose powder is perfect for you who have oily skin and want to achieve shine-free makeup that lasts all day. It usually comes in a jar packaging so it’s less travel-friendly than pressed powder. Because of its finely-milled particles, loose powder is oftentimes more lightweight and has more sheer coverage compared to pressed powder.
Loose powder is usually used in the last step of complexion, to smoothen and set your whole look. It can also be used to bake your under-eyes. Use a large firm brush or kabuki brush for baking, let it rest on your skin for 2 minutes as the powder will absorb and balance the oil on your face, dust off the excess after 2 minutes. It can also be applied using powder brush to your face with circle motion if you're not baking.
PRESSED POWDER
Pressed powder is a loose powder that is pressed into a compact packaging, making it more travel-friendly than loose powder because you can easily fit it into your makeup pouch and bring it everywhere! Pressed powder is usually formulated with moisturizer and oil, so it is perfect for you who have dry skin because the semi-solid formula will hydrate your skin. Thus, this makes it tricky for oil skin to use pressed powder because it might make your skin oilier. Pressed powder also has more coverage compared to loose powder.
Beside using the powder puff that usually comes in the packaging, this kind of powder is also best applied with a soft large powder brush by swirling it over the powder and then press it on your skin. You can use pressed powder as a quick and simple way to touch up your makeup!
